Farhad holds a Diploma of Building Design and Technology from Holmesglen TAFE. Following graduation, he was recruited by Mr. John Sutton—a senior engineer and building design expert at John Sutton Consulting Engineer—where he served as a structural and architectural draftsperson. Under Mr. Sutton’s mentorship, Farhad gained substantial expertise in structural design across residential, commercial, and industrial projects, developing a keen understanding of the practical interplay between structural and architectural design. His responsibilities included producing detailed structural and architectural drawings, conducting site investigations to gather essential design data such as land topography, and calculating timber framing, bracing, and tie-down requirements for residential buildings during his one-and-a-half-year tenure.
Seeking to expand his architectural expertise, Farhad joined Burns Architecture under the leadership of Mr. Mark Burns, a senior architect and Melbourne University alumnus, where he contributed for nearly seven years. Initially engaged as an architectural draftsman preparing schematic design drawings and construction documents, Farhad’s dedication and passion led to additional responsibilities in conceptual design. At Burns Architecture, he honed his skills in high-end single dwelling developments, new house construction, and modifications to existing structures.
Motivated by Mr. Burns’s vision and expertise, Farhad pursued further education in architecture at Deakin University, initially part-time before transitioning to full-time studies. He earned a Bachelor of Design (Architecture) at Deakin University’s Geelong Waterfront campus.
After completing his degree, Farhad worked as an Architectural Draftsperson with Englehart Homes, one of Australia’s most award-winning residential builders, led by Mr. Ron Englehart. In this role, he transformed initial architect-designed sketches into comprehensive client presentations, planning applications, and construction working drawings over four years. More recently, he contributed as an Architectural Documenter at Destination Living for just over a year, further refining his focus on architecture.
Currently, Farhad operates as a freelance Building Designer while completing his Master’s degree in Architecture at Deakin University, continuously advancing his skills and expertise in the field.
